Construction Manager / Project Manager

Department: Facilities
Location: Washington, DC

Major Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide the project team with all preconstruction Tasks as assigned, including all Procurement actions
  • Provide regular status and incident reports to the DGS Project Manager.
  • Informing the Project Manager and Client Agency of the progress of construction work and any project activities that may impact tenant occupants, other government entities, or the user community at large.
  • Ensuring timely processing of, and response to, project documentation.
  • Maintaining and updating a project schedule on behalf of the government and tracking milestone activity against the schedule of record that is maintained by the contractor.
  • Update all necessary data in the Project Team, review all invoices, and prepare those for the signature of the DGS project manager of the Government Cluster.
  • Assisting the DGS Project Manager in response to user requests and other project inquiries.
  • Attending regular progress meetings, writing, and distributing meeting minutes for these meetings within 72 hours of the meeting end time.
  • Provides digital photo documentation to support the information provided to the Project Manager and/or Client Agency.
  • Advises the DGS Project Manager on all scope and cost changes to the contract as a result of existing and new conditions or complications.
  • Performs other normal project management duties such as:
    • Contractor invoice review and validation.
    • Compliance with current labor and safety regulations.
    • Document control and record keeping.
    • Utility coordination, reviews building materials for compliance with contract requirements.
    • Ensures that all installation and construction work adhere to contract requirements.
    • Review A/E drawings submittals from the concept phase through the permit and final phase.
    • reviews and interprets drawings, specifications, and shop drawings.
    • Advise the DGS Project Manager of any specialized construction required to install systems or sub-components.
    • Coordination with 3rd Party Testing Agencies, including but not limited to DCRA Regulatory Representative, Industrial Hygienist, and Commissioning Agent.

Background and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, project or construction management, or a related field;
  • A minimum of 5 years of project management and/or construction management experience,
  • Demonstrated experience in project planning, execution, and delivery;
  • Experience in leading a project and all aspects of project management - schedule, budget, resource planning, risk management, coordination;
  • Experience in contract development and administration;
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; and

Preferred Qualifications

  • Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification is desirable but not required.
  • Registered Professional Engineer in VA, MD, or DC;

Salary Range: $110,000 to $141,000 YR
