Maintain organized and detailed construction files, project records and logs. Oversee and review daily field inspector reports. Track, document and manage project issues and conditions, including the management of the construction Request For Information (RFI) and submittal process. Provide and coordinate technical and administrative information to others working on a project to ensure that the work complies with all engineering standards, codes, specifications, and design instructions.
Position Description
The Wayfinding Office Engineer reports to the Wayfinding Project Manager and is responsible for assisting the Project Manager with managing the scope, schedule and operational interfaces of all design and construction-related activities for TDIP’s Wayfinding Project.
Position Description Summary
The Wayfinding Office Engineer provides a broad spectrum of technical and administrative duties primarily associated with submittal and Request for Information (RFI) management as well as construction management support. Supports the project management team (project manager, assistant PM, construction manager, design manager, etc.).

- Maintaining an excellent working relationship with the design and construction professionals geared towards open communications and mutual problem solving in the best interest of the project and all other parties involved
- Contributing to a high level of team morale through professionalism that reflects well on the project team, external stakeholders and LAWA/internal stakeholders.
Essential Job Duties
- Manage and maintain all project documentation, including RFIs, submittals, change orders, meeting minutes, and daily reports.
- Track, log, and monitor contractor submittals to ensure timely review and distribution to design teams and project stakeholders.
- Prepare, process, and follow up on Requests for Information (RFIs), ensuring prompt communication of responses to all relevant parties.
- Update and maintain RFI and submittal logs in PMWeb, ensuring accuracy and compliance with project requirements.
- Maintain organized hard-copy and electronic project files; oversee document and submittal management systems.
- Work with contractors to ensure drawings and project documents are posted and updated in a timely manner.
- Distribute documents, submittals, and RFIs for review; track review comments, compile responses, obtain management approval, and issue formal responses to contractors.
- Coordinate with contractors, design teams, inspectors, and project managers to support clear and consistent information flow.
- Assist in preparing construction meeting agendas, presentations, and action item logs.
- Support field operations by coordinating with field engineers and superintendents to maintain alignment between project documentation and field activities.
- Ensure proper filing, organization, and archiving of all project records in accordance with LAWA project standards.
- Manipulate various electronic file formats to create exhibits, graphics, and supporting materials for meetings and presentations.
- Perform additional project support duties as assigned, including attending and documenting project meetings, writing agendas and minutes, expediting processes, and maintaining expediting logs.
Hardware/Software Knowledge
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and Bluebeam
- Experience with Project Management Implementation Systems; ability to work in PM Web preferred
Professional Experience Level/Other Qualifications
- Five years or more experience, preferably on airport projects or environments
- Excellent written and oral communication skills and a thorough knowledge of industry practices and regulations
Education/Training
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction management, or other related field
- Optional certifications may include AAAE, LEED, PE, PMP, AICP, etc. or any other relevant professional license or certifications.

- This is NOT a work from home position
- This is a salaried position based on 40 hours per week at the applicable all-in labor rate.
- This is a Monday-Friday full-time position in the office or on the project site at LAX
- After hours or weekend work may be required to perform the duties of the position. This shall be considered part of the salary

Salary Range: $79,040 to $99,840 YR
